Building Grassroots Support to Protect Labor
Senator Nick Hinrichsen, an Army veteran who served in the Iraq War, NATO peacekeeping operations in Kosovo, and the Colorado National Guard, currently represents Senate District 3. He holds the position of Vice Chair on the Agriculture & Natural Resources Committee and is also a member of the Business, Labor & Technology Committee. Prior to being appointed, and then elected, to the State Senate in 2022, he played an essential role in Pueblo's logistics industry and served as Pueblo Transit's Operations Supervisor, demonstrating his commitment to community welfare. Notably, in 2020, he developed Colorado's first public transit agency-wide pandemic response plan, minimizing service disruptions and ensuring safety amidst the health crisis.
MFStrategies was retained by the Hinrichsen campaign in 2022. In a monumental demonstration of grassroots support, our organization managed to raise over $166,000, chiefly through small individual donations of $400 or less. Our team's dedication to nurturing relationships and engaging the public at a grassroots level ensured we had a broad base of individual donors who were motivated to give what they could to support the campaign. This success played a pivotal role in obtaining key endorsements from prominent bipartisan groups such as VoteVets, the Southern Colorado Labor Council, and the AFL-CIO. Moreover, we organized and executed a series of successful labor/lobby events that drove our agenda forward. In a testament to our organizational capacity and network, we were able to engage the Governor to participate in these events, significantly enhancing their success and impact. These accomplishments reflect not just a successful campaign, but the establishment of a formidable network of allies and donors that can be leveraged for future endeavors.
